FC Connecticut Looks to Sponsor SYSL Team

(Stamford, CT) July 2nd

After the recent league meeting held at Casey's in Stamford, FC Connecticut is entertaining the idea of sponsoring a team in the Stamford Youth Soccer League (SYSL) this fall. The club has plans to meet with SYSL leadership and discuss the possibilities of going forward with this idea. "Several members of the club and other players in the league have children playing at different levels of the league and it only makes sense that we do this" stated Tom Finn.

The club plans to make announcements as we make progress on sponsoring a team. This is also an opportunity to support youth soccer in the Fairfield County area and beyond. Stay tune for more information on this in the near future.

FC Connecticut Host Team in Stamford Co-Ed League

The club announced that they would compete in the 2008 Stamford Co-Ed League Summer competition. The team will be listed as FC CT AC in the first division of the Co-Ed League. Competition stars the week of June30th and runs throughout the summer. If you are interesting in playing for this team, please contact Tom Finn. We welcome female players of all skill level as this is a fun, but competitive league.

The Club would also like to mention the club's fielded a team in the Stamford Co-Ed Indoor League for the second time in the winter of 2007. The team was successful in competition reaching the playoff for a second year in a row. The prior & first year in competition, the team was runner up for the league championship. Please see our Co-Ed team link for data and goodies on the teams competing in Co-Ed leagues.

FC Connecticut Notches First Victory of the Season

(Stamford, CT) May 31st

The club picked up it's first victory of the season as the team posted a dominant 6-1 victory over Sporting FC. With the return of several key players, the midfield play was solidified. Johan Cifuentes lead the team by notching a hat trick, while Sam Cain added two goals. The final tally was scored by Mihai Tisca which completed the scoring.

With the team under the reins of player/coach Jamil Zraikat, the team is starting to come together and play as a unit. As per coach Zraikat, "we are going to keep coming together as a team and will be competitive in the league this year." Lets hope that the team uses this effort and build from what they accomplished today.

The team has a bye on the weekend of June 7th, but looks forward to the game on the 14th against the Ukrainian Lions, a perennial power in the league. It will be a good gauge for the team going forward.

Major Strides by FC Connecticut in 2007 Indoor Season

(Stamford, CT) April 28th

The indoor season ended with great success as several of FC Connecticut Men’s Indoor teams reached the playoffs. FC CT 1, which represents the club in the City of Stamford Recreational League B Division, ran the table and finished the season undefeated. By doing this, the team won the league outright and will be promoted to the Rec League A Division. In the D Division, the FC CT Diosa team qualified for the playoffs & ran the table winning the Championship. The team will also be promoted to the C Division in 2008. The FC CT 2 team, which played in the E Division ended up in 4th place and made the playoff. Unfortunately, the team lost its playoff game to the league first place team. The club felt that it could have won the game if we weren’t short key players who could not make the 6PM start time for the game.

It has been the most successful season for the club with three out of four teams competing in the Recreational League made the playoff. We look to carry that on to the outdoor season which begins this spring.
